The Pharaohs will kick off their World Cup campaign on 15 June against Uruguay and then face hosts Russia on 19 June.

Their final group stage match will be against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.

"I hope to snatch the game against Uruguay and achieve victory instead of just gaining a point," Cooper told a television programme early on Monday.

"I am working to win any game we play whatever the ranking of our opponents, so I decided to play difficult friendlies, most recently with the game against Colombia," he said.

In March, Egypt lost to Portugal and Greece in two friendly matches held during their first training camp in Switzerland.

Egypt managed a 1-1 draw against hosts Kuwait last week before a goalless draw with Colombia on Friday.

Egypt will face Belgium in their final friendly on Wednesday before flying to Russia to make their first World Cup appearance since 1990 when they were eliminated at the group stage.

"Despite the difficulty of the coming friendly against Belgium, we will play to beat them as they are also bidding for the World Cup title," Cooper said.

Egypt's star winger Mohamed Salah faces a race against time to regain fitness for the World Cup after picking up a shoulder injury in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on 26 May.

"It's difficult to find a replacement for Salah but Mahmoud Trezeguet can do it," the Argentinean coach said, adding, "I will find an alternative plan if Salah misses the World Cup opening game."

"Argentina also changes their tactics when they are missing their star Messi," Cooper said.

Egypt manager Hector Cuper has revealed the team’s desire to clinch the maximum points against Uruguay in their World Cup opener.

The Pharaohs meet Oscar Tabarez’s side on June 15 at the Ekaterinburg Arena, before games against other Group A teams, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

As part of their preparation for the showpiece, on Friday, the North Africans played a stalemate with Colombia, their second consecutive draw which irked the Argentine tactician.

However, he is hoping that his team will brace up and nick the three points when they confront the South Americans.

“We are not satisfied with the result of the Colombia game, we were not trying to end the game in a draw,” Cooper was quoted as saying on Kingfut.

“We hope we can clinch the three points against Uruguay and not just one point.

MONTEVIDEO, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay has not changed their preparations for the team's opening World Cup match against Egypt despite the likely absence of Mohamed Salah, Celeste coach Oscar Tabarez said on Monday.

Salah has been given little chance of playing in the June 15 fixture in Yekaterinburg, Russia's fourth-largest city, as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

"Because of his characteristics, you need to take care about how you occupy spaces," Tabarez told reporters.

"But I think that changing all of our preparations for that reason [Salah's probable absence] is over the top. We don't even know for sure if he is going to play or not. If he plays, we will have to take precautions because of his very high level."

Salah was one of the most prolific forwards in Europe last season, scoring 44 goals and laying off 16 assists for Liverpool across all competitions.

Last October, the 25-year-old became a national hero by converting a 95th-minute penalty to send Egypt to the World Cup for the first time since 1990.

But his availability for the tournament was plunged into doubt when he was forced off during Real Madrid's 3-1 defeat of Liverpool in the Champions League final on May 26.

Egypt's national team medical staff subsequently said the forward's absence "would not exceed three weeks".
